NFT sales spike to $224m, Pudgy Penguins sales surge 50%

NFT market sales surged amid mixed cryptocurrency price action, with Bitcoin reclaiming the $100,000 level while Ethereum retreated from last week’s $4,000 mark.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization contracted slightly to $3.63 trillion from last week’s $3.67 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap data.

According to the latest data from CryptoSlamthe NFT market surged 16.36%, with total sales volume reaching $224.5 million. However, the data shows that the number of unique buyers decreased by 73.97% to 180,641.

Ethereum network sees 21% increase

Ethereum (ETH) blockchain continues to dominate with $118.9 million in sales, an increase of 21.33% from the previous period. The network saw a surge in wash trading, which increased 117.35% to $43.8 million.

Bitcoins (BTC) NFT ecosystem sales reached $51.8 million, an increase of 14.79%. Network wash trading showed a moderate increase of 11.30%, suggesting relatively cleaner trading activity compared to Ethereum.

Solana (GROUND) strengthens its position with a turnover of 21.4 million dollars, an increase of 32.12%. Myth Chain (MYTH) and ImmutableX (SMEs) round out the top five, with sales of $10.9 million and $8.5 million, respectively.

The collection rankings saw major changes: Pudgy Penguins – the collection includes 8,888 unique penguin avatars – retained its top position. Their sales volume reached $30 million, an increase of 51.53% over the previous period.

Pudgy Penguins has evolved beyond just digital art; the brand is now exploring various licensing opportunities, including physical products and toys inspired by NFT characters.

BRC-20 NFTs continue strong performance with $15.5 million in sales, an increase of 54.63%. One notable newcomer, LilPudgys, posted a 1,021.54% increase in sales, reaching $13.5 million.

Azuki and Guild of Guardians Heroes round out the top five, with Azuki showing particular strength with a 179.46% increase in sales.
