Sonic adopts Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability

Sonic Labs, formerly Fantom, announced that Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol is live on the Sonic mainnet.

Chainlink integration (LINK) with Sonic allows developers to leverage the features and benefits of Oracle’s network infrastructure.

According to a announcementdevelopers can now use the technology to create and deploy decentralized applications accessible on Sonic and other blockchain networks. With CCIP, Sonic Labs has adopted Chainlink’s data feeds and feeds.

This development follows Sonic’s participation in the Chainlink SCALE program in September 2024.

“The developers of the Sonic blockchain ecosystem have requested Chainlink, and we are thrilled that it is now available on the Sonic mainnet. Chainlink CCIP, data feeds and data feeds are essential to unlocking a range of new cross-chain use cases and powering the next generation of high-performance DeFi applications,” said Sam Harcourt, Head of Business Development at Sonic Labs.

The main benefits of the integration include improved network security, programmable and cross-chain tokens, and arbitrary messaging.

Chainlink’s standard has already been adopted by major financial institutions and platforms, including Fidelity International, Swift and ANZ Bank. The protocol is also integrated with major DeFi projects such as Lido, Aave and GMX. Sonic’s Ethereum L1 virtual machine launched its mainnet in December 2024.

Blockchain supports 10,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality.

Earlier this month, Sonic adopted USDC bridged from stablecoin issuer Circle (USDC) standard. The launch of blockchain-bridged USDC, via Sonic Gateway, aims to boost developer activity. Additionally, a proposed integration of Aave v3 with Sonic passed a temperature control stage in December.
