Hester Peirce writes: ‘The Journey Begins’
The Commissioner of the American Commission of Securities and Exchange, Hester Peirce, published a new article on February 4, describing the key objectives of the newly created cryptographic group of the agency.
In the newspaper, entitled The trip beginsPeirce recognizes that the SEC was struggling to define its approach to cryptocurrency. Over the past decade, regulatory uncertainty, incoherent policies and legal ambiguity have shaped the cryptographic landscape.
However, she considers the launch of the working group on the crypto, which she directs, as an opportunity to move forward with a framework that balances innovation and the protection of investors.
“It took us a long time to enter this waste, and it will take us time to get out of it. The Commission has engaged in the cryptography industry in one form or another for more than a decade, “she wrote.
Key objectives of the working group
Peirce pleads for a more structured approach and has described several key objectives:
- Clarify the safety state of cryptographic assets
- Provide temporary repair to tokens transmitters
- Create viable recording tracks
- Updating broker regulations
- Write childcare rules for investment advisers
- Definition of regulations for loans and the development of cryptography
- Improved products negotiated in exchange for crypto
- Improvement of compensation and the regulation of token securities
- Encourage international collaboration
- Identification of zones outside the jurisdiction of the dry
While Peirce recognizes that the coming road will be difficult, it remains optimistic that collaboration can lead to a more predictable regulatory environment adapted to innovation.
“If we collaborate, the trip will be exhilarating and enriching. This is the start of the conversation-one that we don’t want to have just with ourselves, “she concluded.
