SEC’s Hester Peirce pushes back on crypto regulation stance

The SEC commissioner, Hester Peirce, defended his approach to the regulation of cryptocurrencies during an interview with Bloomberg, by prioritizing a friendly approach, rather than restrictive monitoring.

Peirce, head of Titles and exchanges Crypto labor force, said in a Recent interview Bloomberg She does not consider herself as “a defender of the industry”, she is rather a “maximalist freedom”. She rejected the idea that Sheis supported the cryptographic industry too much.

She criticized the current approach of the SEC, arguing that the agency had placed “Block Road After Roadblock” in front of those who try to engage with the system. Instead, she called for a policy that allows experimentation.

“All I ask is that we have an innovation policy that allows people to innovate and try new things,” she said.

“Coordinate in a way that was not possible before”

When asked if Crypto had a goal, Peirce highlighted his potential to facilitate coordination and confidence between people around the world. “Technology allows people to coordinate in a way that was not possible before,” she said, adding that blockchain could be integrated into traditional finance while allowing new cases of use at- beyond the financial markets.

Peirce has also responded to concerns as to whether his philosophy is reflected without regulation.

“We live in a country where we have a very established financial regulatory framework,” she said, adding that her position does not mean a “free for all”.

She pleaded for the importance of working in existing statutory frameworks. Peirce said:

“We have rules in place and these rules will be applied.”
