Major survey finds 1 in 5 U.S. adults now use cryptocurrency


A new study by the National Cryptocurrency Association revealed that 55 million American adults now use cryptocurrency, 76% saying that this has a positive impact on their lives.

On April 2, the National Cryptocurrency Association published the largest investigation American cryptocurrency holders. He showed that 21% of American adults, or around 55 million people, use digital assets.

Directed in partnership with Harris Poll, the report offers a new look at how crypto is used in different demographic and income levels.

The younger biaise property, with 67% of holders under the age of 45, but the study also found a significant adoption among older Americans, because 15% are over 55 years old. Women now represent almost a third of all holders (31%). In a somewhat surprising way, the crypto is more common in the construction sector (12%) than in financial services (7%).

“We know that millions of real individuals use crypto,” said Stuart Alderoty, president of the NCA. “These data tell us that people from all walks of life engage with crypto in several ways, and not only are they enthusiastic about the future, but they also take advantage of it today.”

Crypto as a tool for education, finance and pleasure

The report revealed that the call of the crypto extends beyond the generation of yields. Forty-five percent of users have cited learning and personal growth as a key advantage, while the same percentage benefits from the excitement of being part of an emerging sector. Almost 40% use the crypto to make purchases while 9% of the transacts daily.

Most holders (81%) want to deepen their understanding of the crypto, in particular around the security, regulation and blockchain technology. Sixty-four percent support government regulations while 67% warn that it could stifle innovation.

Many users see the societal potential of crypto, citing its role in financial inclusion (45%), the effectiveness of digital transactions (45%) and global cooperation (33%).
