Crypto lawyer files lawsuit against DHS to expose Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity

James A. Murphy is continuing the American Department of Internal Security to force the agency to reveal what it knows about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, following the claims that the DHS can have information on the pseudonym figure.

The United States DHS are be prosecuted by the lawyer for the crypto James A. Murphy to discover the true identity of Bitcoin (BTC) Creator, who goes through the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Murphy, who is authorized to practice the right in New York and Virginia, regularly shares legal information with his subscribers on X under the @Metalawman handle.

The trial, filed with the American district court of the Columbia district, follows Murphy’s attempts to obtain information through a law request for the DHS on February 12. Murphy says the agency has ignored its request, violating its statutory obligation to respond.

A lawyer representative Murphy said in the complaint: “Given the massive public and private investment in Bitcoin, it is important for Mr. Murphy and the public to better understand what the federal government knows about the identity of the actor (s) responsible for creating Bitcoin.”

Murphy specifically wishes access to documents related to an interview carried out by the Special Agent of the DHS, Rana Saoud, in 2019, in which she would have claimed to know the identity of Nakamoto. According to Murphy, Saoud said that four individuals were involved in the creation of Bitcoin and that it had met them to discuss its development.

With billions of dollars recently invested in Bitcoin negotiated funds and US government plans to establish a Bitcoin strategic reserve, Murphy thinks that this information is crucial. He urged the secretary of the DHS, Kristi Noem, appointed by Donald Trump, to deliberately disclose the identity of Nakamoto. If the DHS does not cooperate, he said, he will continue to continue a legal action to discover the truth.

People have been trying to understand the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto for years. Dozens of figures have been supposed to be Nakamoto, including the Japanese-American engineer Dorian Nakamoto (Due to similarities and technical expertise), cryptographer HAL Finney (which was the first person to receive a registered BTC transaction), Adam backCEO of BlockStream (for his first work on cryptographic protocols like Hashcash), Wei Dai (Creator of B-Money, a precursor of Bitcoin), and Paul Le Roux (Due to its alleged link to the first BTC transaction sent to Hal Finney).

More recently, the developer and cryptographer of Canadian software Peter Todd was highlighted in the HBO documentary “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery”, which extended That he was Satoshi Nakamoto, based on his first activities in the Bitcoin forums and the similarity with the writing style of Satoshi. Todd vehemently denied These affirmations, calling them as “ridiculous” and criticizing the speculative approach to the documentary.
