Google to bring new rules for businesses seeking to advertise crypto in EU

From mid-April, crypto exchanges and portfolio suppliers will have to comply with Mica to advertise Google in the European Union.

Google modifies its advertising policy for crypto services in the European Union, forcing companies to follow Crypto-active markets rules. From April 23, companies wishing to announce exchanges of crypto and software portfolios on Google in the European Bloc must be under license as a cryptocurrency service provider under the markets in the regulation of crypto-sets by a “relevant competent national authority”, Google said in his official opinion.

The updated policy covers 30 countries, including Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In addition to the Mica license, Google said that advertisers should also comply “to all other local legal requirements, including all restrictions or requirements at the national level beyond the mica” and be “certified by Google”.

Some countries will have a transition period when existing licenses will remain valid. In Finland, France and Germany, for example, where Google currently accepts licenses to country for advertising cryptography and software portfolios, these licenses will be recognized during transition periods, said the research giant.

The deadlines for the transition period vary according to the country. For Finland, it lasts until June 30, while for Germany, it was until December 30. After the deadline, only Mica licenses will be accepted, indicates the ad. Google added that it will give advertisers a warning before taking action on any violation.
