Dogecoin to Solana bridge a ‘big big opportunity for both,’ says Psy CEO
PSS CEO explains the importance of transversal bridges after the launch of a Dogecoin without confidence in Solana Bridge.
Transversal bridges play an important role in the interoperability of blockchain. However, while contributing to the integration of cryptographic ecosystems, they are also a major source of vulnerability. In an interview with Crypto.News, Carter Feldman, CEO and founder of Psy, explained their importance.
In particular, Psy launched the first bridge without confidence in Dogecoin (DOGE) in Solana (GROUND) Thursday, May 22. The bridge is without confidence, which means that it avoids some of the risks and traps that have caused major exploits in the past.
Crypto.News: Transversal bridges were a major source of hacks and exploits. What makes this bridge between Dogecoin in Solana more secure?
Carter Feldman: Unlike traditional bridges that are based on multisig signatories or centralized guards, our bridge directly checks the proof of work of Dogecoin on Solana. We capture and check each Dogecoin blocking header on Solana, which contains the consensual data and the root of Merkle transactions. This means that Solana can cryptographically check the state of Dogecoin without trusting the intermediaries.
CN: How did you decided to reject Dogecoin to Solana, and why Dogecoin and Solana specifically?
Cf: Basically, we believe that we have to provide evidence of evidence of work to stage staging, and this bridge shows that proof of work and programmable blockchains can work together without sacrificing security.
The consensus of the proof of work of Dogecoin offers security impossible to reproduce in the proof systems of implementation. Unlike POS, where security is based on tokens in the same system they secure, proof of work of Dogoin anchors the safety of external physical resources. This creates an objective security barrier which is resistant to governance attacks and the manipulation of tokens, offering real resistance and decentralization that POS simply cannot correspond.
CN: Why has no one already built a Dogecoin bridge without confidence? What has changed now?
Cf: This comes back to technical capacity. The technology of proof of zero knowledge has only matured to the point where the verification of the evidence of work of work such as Dogecoin on other blockchains has become possible. No one had built the fundamental tools necessary to do this work safely. In addition, our team has a unique technical training in the proof of work and zero knowledge systems necessary to bring this vision to reality.
CN: What does this bridge mean for the Dogecoin and Solana ecosystem in terms of growth and potential synergies?
See: This is a great opportunity for the two ecosystems, in my opinion. Dogecoin holders can now access the DEFI, NFT and Solana game applications without selling their DOGE. At the same time, Solana developers can draw from the massive Dogecoin user base and liquidity. This should create a flywheel effect: as Dogecoin users are discovering Solana’s capacities, we hope to see an increased activity on the two networks.
CN: What other channels that have not yet been connected, but where a bridge like this would have a major impact?
Cf: I think it goes without saying, but the Bitcoin bridges minimized in confidence are certainly a northern star. Fortunately, a large part of the work we have accomplished for Dogecoin can be reused for Bitcoin, Litecoin and other evidence of evidence of work. Expect more soon on this front!
